Selling to us
Sell Your Stamps to Blackheath Stamps
We buy individual quality stamps and better Great Britain and Commonwealth material, at a fair price, and we give honest advice on the rest, including telling you when an auction would serve you better. We do not chase whole collections we cannot do justice to, and we will never make a sale we should not. The first step is always a free, no-obligation valuation from clear photographs. Send them, and we will tell you honestly what you have and how best to sell it.

At a glance
How we buy, honestly
We believe selling should start with honesty, not a pitch. We are specialist dealers in Great Britain and Commonwealth stamps, and what we buy best are individual quality stamps and better material in those fields, which we can value properly and sell well.
For these, we pay a fair price, openly explained. For other things, the common, the bulky, the items better suited elsewhere, we will tell you so plainly, because a fair word serves you better than an unfair offer. Our guide on how much a dealer pays explains how dealer pricing honestly works.

Who you are dealing with
Daniel Ardley, founder of Blackheath Stamps
Every valuation and offer comes from me personally, a full-time, accredited dealer since 2017. You are dealing with a real, named specialist, not a faceless buyer, and you will always get an honest answer.

When an auction is better for you
Sometimes the right advice is not to sell to us
Sometimes the right advice is not to sell to us at all, and we will say so.
Genuinely valuable or specialist items. For a stamp that will achieve its best price at auction, we will tell you, because we would rather see you do well than make a sale that does not serve you. Our guide to auction versus dealer explains the difference.
Whole collections. We do not generally buy entire collections, since we cannot match what a good auction can do for them, and pretending otherwise would not be fair to you.
The honest path. Our aim is that you end up in the right place, whether that is selling to us, going to auction, or keeping what you have. Our guide on where to sell sets out the options fairly.
What we are glad to buy
That honesty cuts both ways, and there is a great deal we are genuinely keen to buy. We are always interested in individual quality stamps, better Great Britain, especially the line-engraved classics in which we specialise, and better Commonwealth material, in fine condition and correctly described. If you have such stamps, we would love to see them, and we will make a fair offer if you would like one. Our guides on how to sell your stamps and getting the best price explain how to present material well.
How it works
Send clear photographs
Email good, clear photographs of your stamps, fronts and backs where you can, to the address below. Our free valuation page explains how.
We reply honestly
We will tell you what you have, what it is worth, and how best to sell it, whether that is to us or elsewhere. There is no charge and no obligation.
If we buy, we agree a fair price
Where we are the right buyer, we will make a fair offer, openly explained, and arrange everything straightforwardly.
If we are not, we point you the right way
If an auction or another route would serve you better, we will say so, and gladly.

Not generally, because we cannot match what a good auction can achieve for a whole collection, and it would not be fair to pretend otherwise. We buy individual quality stamps and better material, and advise honestly on the rest.
A fair price for what we buy, openly explained. A dealer pays a wholesale price, since stamps must be resold, as our guide on dealer prices explains. If an auction would do better for you, we will tell you.
